It's a great way for students to explore areas of interests and to meet new friends.

Just a reminder that students in 4th grade can be expected to have homework 3-4 nights each week. In general students will have homework in Math and Spelling each night and should be reading for  20 minutes each night. Homework is written in the homework assignment books at the end of each day. It would be extremely helpful if you could check their assignment books each evening to make sure the homework is completed and also to ensure that it is in their homework pocket folders for return the next day.

The PTO is looking for volunteers!!!

The Exeter Elementary PTO supports our Teacher Classroom Start-Up funds, Cultural Enrichment, Field Trips, Playground Equipment, Technology purchases and so much more. It is also a great way to meet other parents and families who you might not get another opportunity to connect with. Please consider donating your time . Thanks

Have a fabulous weekend and I look forward to another successful week with the students next week.

Tuesday, September 4, 2018

We had another successful start to the school week given that it comes right on the heels of a 4 day weekend. Today the students attended an assembly to be introduced to the various instruments which are available for anyone interested in taking lessons here at school. Paperwork came home today regarding the program and anyone interested  in learning how to play an instrument must have their paperwork in by Friday so that Mrs. Perriccio can develop a schedule . It is a fantastic opportunity for student who want to learn. Lessons take place during one recess period each week as assigned by Mrs. Perriccio.

Tonight is the first night in which a curriculum homework was assigned. All homework assignments will be posted on this blog as well as written in the homework assignment books each day. Please check both daily so that there is no question as to whether or not an assignment has been given.

Math: Homelink 1.1: Place value and value; basic addition review

Reading: 20 minutes

Special : please continue to send your child with a refillable water bottle.

Tuesday, August 29, 2019

I am looking forward to this new school year. There are lots of new things to be learned and new friends to be made.

My goal for this year is to help your child to be an independent and responsible learner, as well as, to show him or her how to make responsible choices. To accomplish this goal, there will be regular homework and we will be making the most of our class time. My expectations for the students this year will be high. They will need to work hard and do their best but if today is any indication, I know they are up for the challenge.

The focus this week is building a community within the classroom. An understanding that we are all different with our own strengths, weaknesses, skills, and unique qualities is key to the success of all students. Yesterday we brainstormed classroom rules and goals. It was  interesting to see the variety of rules that groups came up with. Today we pared all of the rules down to a set of ten rules through compromise.

Tomorrow should not be as hot or as stifling as the past two days We will continue to  run the air conditioners as needed. It is   less interruptive to the day if students had a refillable water bottle. Many of the students had them today if you have not sent one in perhaps you will consider it.
Thank you all for sending your paperwork in so promptly. Now we can start to use the technology available to us. We will be using computers a lot this year. In addition to our Social Studies and Science curriculum, the computers will be handy for researching Project Based Learning activities.

Again, thank you to all of the families who generously sent in classroom supplies. It is a huge help and very much appreciated!

      Stay Cool

The students brought home A LOT of paper work today. Much of it needs to be signed and sent back to school. Please try to get it back as soon as possible. Students also brought home their homework assignment books for the first time. This is new for the students . All homework is written in the assignment books and should be checked and signed by you as an indication that you are aware that and assignment was given and that it was completed.

Tomorrow and Wednesday is going to be EXTREMELY hot. We will run the air conditioners but it would also be healthy and less interruptive to the day if students had a refillable water bottle. Many of the students had them today.
